The New Year typically brings new perspective, an extra boost of energy to “improve” and a desire to have what you didn’t have in the previous year. The dreaded old mind set of a “new years resolution” is thrown around and goals are made with very little intention to continue past January. The gym’s parking lots are full for a couple of weeks and start to trickle down as the gumption fades. Come February, everyone is living the same life they lived in 2018, 2017, 2016… 1996… etc. I have long been crazing change. Change from the every day hustle and bustle, change from life’s ongoing and mundane tasks, change from making the same mistakes, missing the same opportunities and change from wishing for the same things for my life and the lift of those in my family.
When did we get into such a rut? The definition of rut is a habit or pattern of behavior that has become dull and unproductive but is hard to change. Wow… that is scary. The life I have been living is best described as a RUT? Now pause…. I have 100% been living a very BLESSED life, filled with incredible children, an amazing husband, a beautiful home and have not wanted for anything tangible. I am able to spend time with my children daily and we travel frequently (it may be for cheer but still allows us a change of scenery). I do not wish for a different life in the slightest, I love my life and the family members that I get to share it with.
I DO however, want to be more intentional with my blessings and get the most out of these precious moments that we are given as a gift. I often lay my head down at the end of my exhausted day with my eyes wide open and my mind running a million miles a moment. Of course my body has hit a wall, but my mind is ready to tell me all about how I messed up that day, how I could of done more in the house, spent more time with my precious babies, been a better wife, done a couple more emails for work or how I am not even on track with the goals that want to accomplish for myself and our family (keeping in mind that I haven’t actually made a game plan for those goals… they are more of a WANT then a GOAL).
I want change, I want to BE more, FEEL like more and OFFER more. I want every moment that I have to be intentionally used. So, for 2019, I am currently planning out how I am going to make it a year where I take all of my wants and dreams for my life and INTENTIONALLY turn them into goals and habits!
Join me while we dive into the areas of our life that we need to focus on. I am learning right along with you and since I am taking the time to improve myself, I would love to share the things and people that are inspiring me.
HEALTH & BODY
FUTURE & GOALS
MIND & FAITH
Start to prepare your mind for the life you plan to start living NOW! I will start to share the things that I am planning to have on hand while reflecting and learning. Do as much or as little as you want or need, we are all in a different place in our life and certain things will speak more to some of us then others. I personally feel like these 7 areas listed above are speaking to me and my family and I want to dive in one hundred and ten percent!
In the next couple of weeks, through Christmas and New Years… enjoy the moments and unplug when you can! Be PRESENT with your loved ones! Take some time without technology and write down what is on your heart, what your dreams are and what you want to see from yourself in the new year.
I look forward to this journey not only for myself but for all of us!
A year from now you may wish you had started today.Karen Lamb
